Yes, this has been done for about 20 years now.I have a “basic” simulation that I use to start modeling actual systems.I will share the basic model.

I am simulating a hydraulic cylinder moving back and forth but I include the pump, accumulator, valve, and controller.I simulate an obstruction at 0.4 seconds

You will not find this kind of simulation in a book.Download and study.
